To kick off the first official day of Spring, I wanted to share pictures from our Rustic Spring inspired shoot at Chez on Ontario. This was one of my favorite shoots to produce because we did the floral, styling & photography! While I am not a fan of rustic (anymore) weddings, I really wanted to see this particular design style in Chez’s beautifully simple space. Vintage, rustic and/or shabby weddings are here to stay and I know I will be designing several more, so I wanted to start brainstorming creative ways to keep this trend unique and fresh for each client.
I thought it would be fun to take the “rustic” and infuse a street-city vibe with the type of photography/editing. I wanted to play up the simplicity of the venue with bright floral, soft designs and sharp colors.

Designing the personal flowers are one of my favorite parts. They set the tone for the entire story and can be as simple or over the top as you want and still be striking. Mixing wildflowers with succulents allows for you to keep costs low but have statement floral in the right places. Floral spray paint should become your friend. It won’t look cheap, I promise and will open up the possibilities!

The tablescape was a blast to design. I found Liz Dixon with EJD Designs through another amazing vendor of mine, Tablescapes. EJD provided the beautiful placemats and menus for the shoot. When I saw her work at Tablescapes, I immediately knew I had to use her. She is amazing and we now are working with EJD as our official Wedding & Special Event Renderer!

A big thank you to Tablescapes for providing us with the amazing farm table, burlap and lace runner and floral trimmed chargers. To snazz up the table a little more, I wanted to use a vendor I had heard a lot about but hadn’t had the chance to work with yet. I reached out to Kate Lerman of Chicago Vintage Weddings and toured their adorable showroom and office. The plates, flatware and glassware came from them and really finished off the look. Thank you CVW!

This was an especially fun shoot because of another new vendor we had the pleasure of working with: Frost Gelato! We were lucky enough to have their super cute gelato cart in our shoot and even luckier to get all of the leftovers after! My favorite flavor: Strawberries and Champagne. Definitely a newer and fun addition to spring and summer weddings.

If you weren’t already rushing from all of the Gelato, the three different cakes provided by Bittersweet Pastry will surely send you over the top! The cakes arrived to Chez freshly decorated and smelling of nothing but sugar and chocolate. Needless to say, everyone in Chez had a great Monday! Nancy at Bittersweet is my go to “Cake Lady” as she takes the time to get your design exactly how you want it, amazing prices and the BEST cake and buttercream I have ever had. She also provided some of my favorite sweets and pastries for everyone on the shoot…Thank you again Nancy and Bittersweet43!

404234Yes, the cakes are floating! From the amazing Light Bridge created by Tablescapes! They also provided the adorable laser cut white chargers, burlap & lace runner and the gold ornate cake stand.

Chez was such a pretty venue to shoot in. I had actually toured them as a ceremony venue for my wedding last December. They have statement fixtures all throughout their venue, starting with their beautiful chandelier that sets up anyone for EPIC pictures.

Their Lucite stairs make for a perfect entrance and stunning photos. If you choose this venue, make sure to get some fun shots.
