Every year we get the honor of participating in the Wedding Guide Chicago’s Partyscape. This year, we had the special treat of working in our very own backyard…Lacuna Artist Lofts!

The Venue
When we are asked to be a part of this years’ Partyscape, being paired with Lacuna was perfect, as I already had the perfect idea in mind.

Lacuna is the type of venue where any color palette will work if you work it. With such strong gold and copper tones throughout lacuna- I knew rich tones would compliment well. I have always thought a Midsummer Night’s Dream themed anything would pair so uniquely in Lacuna, so I wanted to be sure to incorporate the colors that I associate with that story.

Lacuna is a building of mixed media, found art and in house creations. There is no corner that looks the same and everything is unique and very urban. There are a lot of strong aspects in this venue and I wanted to highlight all of that but by bringing in the outside.

The Design Process

The Personal Flower “mood board” incorporated flowers from the original board as well as details that would soften the venue as much as possible

The first “mood board” created when I found out that Lacuna was our venue.

With all of the rich colors in the flowers and venue, softening the rest of the look with a lace accented gown, barley there makeup and loose curls was the best way to go.

“Gears to Gardens, Railways to Roses”

The name of the shoot came over time and evolved throughout the process. Once I focused in on the “Gears to Gardens” part, everything fell into place. Lacuna is located right along a out of service Railway…at some point in the creation (always a wonderful work in progress) of Lacuna, they acquired a train car that I always love driving past on the way to the Studio. The Roses to Railways was always part of the sequence.

Pairing all of the greenery, foliage and candlelight against the strong but calming Chicago Skyline made for the most breathtaking shots and the prettiest moments.

~The beautiful and unique location of Lacuna enabled us to get amazing shots of the Chicago Skyline. We timed everything to the last detail to ensure we got some magical sunset shots.

The Vendors
Another fun part of this shoot was working with all of the amazing Wedding Guide Vendors. We worked with some of them the year before at The Drake Oak Brook Partyscape and a few were new. We obtained so many amazing photos and videos, it’s hard not to share more images.

Stationery & Invitations
This year, we were paired with Kelly Reif of Kelly Reif Stationery Studios.  Working with Kelly was a breeze and so fun. She had a lovely way of presenting her proofs as well as being extremely fast with turn around time. She was very flexible with my vision and gave me great input that only enhanced the Stationery Suite to perfection.

Cakes & Sweet Table
Working with Toni of Toni Patisserie & Café is always a delight. We were paired with her last year and still dreaming of the mini cookie tower wedding cakes as placesettings! Because I had already worked with Toni, I let her take the reigns completely sending her my mood boards and she doing the rest! She is a gem to work with and so creative. I couldn’t have visualized a more unique and astonishing cake.

The Sweet Table was memorizing. Several of us could be seen sneaking a few treats before the shoot, during and definitely after. We were lucky enough to have custom Macaroons brushed with edible gold, short cakes with seasonal berries, Brulees and more…

We worked with A Posh Production for lighting. We are very family with their work as they have done several events with us this year.

Gift Bags & Appreciation
Bagable Gifts is a vendor we are very familiar with! Dana has been a long time vendor of P3 Events (one of our very first) and it was so fun working with her on her first Partyscape! She takes the time to customize each basket, box and/or bag; finding unique and creative items specific to your theme and look. I love working with Dana and know I will be receiving something amazing every time. We look forward to many more events with Bagable Gifts!

Hair & Makeup
It was our first time working with We Only Do Pretty but it won’t be our last.
